The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary is Canada's only park specifically designed to protect the bears and their habitat. Princess Royal Island is home to the Kermode also known as the The Great Spirit Bear. The scenery around this area is absolutely stunning. The area north of Prince Rupert has some of the highest concentrations of Humpback Whales on the west coast. Orcas and Grey Whales are frequently seen in this area. Throughout the year, it is common to view sea lions, harbor seals, porpoises, bald eagles, deer and numerous species of waterfowl and birds. ![]() |
